Designing a new warewashing solution for a busy school kitchen

St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, Wrexham

Our passthrough dishwasher solution transformed school catering at St Anne’s Catholic Primary School in Wrexham, helping to meet increased demand for efficient meal service following the introduction of Universal Free School Meals for primary schools in Wales.

Tasked with replacing an outdated and unreliable passthrough dishwasher, we designed a solution using the Nelson Advantage AD55 Passthrough Dishwasher, which delivered 30% savings in water and energy usage compared to the original machine.
  •  Capable of washing 1,200 plates per hour
  •  Double-skinned insulation to minimise heat loss
  •  A shallow wash tank to ensuring minimal water and energy usage
  •  Requires only 2.9 litres of rinse water per cycle, which is then reused in the following wash cycles
As with all Nelson installations, this solution went beyond the efficient and eco-friendly machine. Our tailored installation and streamlined design, based on the findings of our comprehensive site survey, helped to minimise any disruptions.

We also delivered comprehensive staff training, covering usage and day-to-day maintenance of the best passthrough dishwasher system. Once installed, our team is available to St Anne’s seven days a week for breakdown and planned maintenance support, with additional support via phone or email for any minor technical issues.

“We’ve been very impressed with Nelson’s exceptional knowledge, professionalism and ongoing support. They’ve definitely helped us to attain our sustainability goals.”

Sue Williams, Primary Schools Catering Manager at Wrexham Council

“With Nelson’s advice, we actually spent less than we’d anticipated, and I’m delighted with the service. Our Nelson dishwasher powers through all the cups, plates and cutlery as well as the many pots and pans we use.”

Elmara Cadette, School Business Leader, William Patten Primary School, Stoke Newington

“We’ve been using Nelson’s warewashers across our three schools for some years and have always found them to be reliable and efficient. We are also impressed by the advances made in reducing the machines’ environmental impact.
